R&B - Contemporary R&B, also known as simply R&B, is a music genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, hip hop and dance.

​

HIP-HOP - R&B sub-genre; While often used to refer to rapping, "hip hop" more properly denotes the practice of the entire subculture. The term hip hop music is sometimes used synonymously with the term rap music,though rapping is not a required component of hip hop music.

The theme for this test is obviously mash ups. Read below for the mechanics:

​

 ✔️ The R&B or Hip Hop track that you will use must be opened as GROUP

 ✔️ AT LEAST One (1) R&B song +  two (2) hip hop songs or vice versa (or more)

​

 ✔️ There will be no limit on the duration of R&B and Hip Hop but the three have to be audible throughout the song (i.e. 40% R&B, 30% Hip Hop 1, 30% Hip Hop 2)

 

 ✔️ A complete mash-up is a collection of songs laid over one track and put together as one whole song that tells ONE story. This means, your mash-up must make sense as a song and must not be contradicting in any way.

 ✔️ You must add the titles of each song in the description of your song

 ✔️ Song/s must be verified via wiki ONLY

 ✔️Any FX is allowed for as long as it sounds artistic -

 

 ✔️Use voice altering FXs at your own discretion

​

 ✔️ Minimum number of layers - 3; Maximum number of layers: unlimited

​

 ✔️ Language MUST be English ONLY

​

 ✔️ Background vocals are NOT allowed no matter how short they are. If you cannot find a song on Smule without background vocals, find another song

 ✔️Use the provided cover art

**FOR NON-VIPs:
ONLY a member of TEST Staff may open songs for you:

1.) PM them your song choice.
2.) Send them the required COVER ART and HASHTAGS.
3.) Once finished, NOTIFY the staff that opened your song and ask to CLOSE and put it in PUBLIC.
We require 24 hours before deadline to close the song for you and attach required hashtags and cover art. Failure to do so, will mean DISQUALIFICATION.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

​

1.) Creativity - was the song sang in a personal way that is not so much identical with the original version? What were the vocal techniques used im the song? 

Were the FXs used blend with each other?

​

2.) Quality - were there background noises in the recording?

​

3.) Emotions - was the song sang with the right emotions to convey the right message?

​

4.) Elite factor - overall performance

​
